Have a look at what they have to say about the sbb!
“It is a special experience to see students being this professionally engaged with social projects. I am looking at a new generation. Furthermore, the multi-disciplinary teams definitely added to the value of the ideas”
- Melanie Schultz van Haegen, former minister of Infrastructure and Environment
“I loved my time in SBB, despite the arrangements during the restrictions. The case study allowed my groupmates and I to brainstorm over sustainable solutions to address real-world problems faced by companies. Moreover, there were many coaches to support us in developing successful business ideas and elevator pitches – it was useful to have the opportunity to bounce our ideas and presentations off of the coaches, whom candidly shared tips and advice on how to distil our ideas and sharpen the delivery of our pitches.
The capstone of my SBB experience was the in-person pitching session to a panel of judges. The experience gave me a tremendous boost in confidence of my persuasion skills, as it taught me that I could convincingly sell my idea, despite its short gestation period. The pitch also gave me the chance to hone my public speaking skills, which was a rare opportunity in a period of online classes and meetings.
I strongly encourage everyone to take part in SBB if you are interested in building experience in sustainable entrepreneurship. With the network of students and coaches that you will meet, who knows if you will meet the team for your start-up or a business mentor?”
- Tan Chia Wu, member of the winning team (SBB 2021)
“Besides providing us with two excellent ideas, the SBB helped enormously with creating enthusiasm for sustainability within a critical part of the organization. This led to the general feeling that sustainability is the way to move forward. This is major!”
- Coen Geerdink, Bolidt
“Hi, I’m Tanja and I really enjoyed my time as the students and education coordinator on the SBB board 2018. I loved connecting sustainable frontrunner companies with highly motivated students. I tried to make an education programme for the students that helped them in their case during the battle - but also aimed to give them the tools and motivation to work in the sustainability field after they graduated. This board position helped me discover what I like to do - help sustainable frontrunner companies succeed in their missions and do good for the environment. That's what I'm doing now in a European context. Assisting sustainable frontrunners to make their practices the market norm in the EU at #SustainablePublicAffairs.
